Magnus Kristinsson & Stefan Riebel

ONLINE COLLABORATION

Online Collaboration is the starting point for CO-LAB Editions work development.
Artists can start collaborating from their home countries by posting visual material, that can be important for the development of the work.
"Thinking about what to to" started with a questionnaire/introduction between the artists.

Stefan Riebel:
first of all thank you márcio for the invitation and your fabulous offer to be our "curator, technician, cook, friend … whatever" (e-mail 30.01.2011) and i am looking forward to enjoy all of these aspects. also i am very curious how this experiment is going to work, to develop and to turn out after the 7 days. i am excited to meet magnus in berlin, to see the space and to basically come around with just some loose ideas waiting to be integrated into a broader collective concept.

i find this blog format very challenging to get in touch beforehand and i will try to use it as a tool to find out a little about magnus and at the same time to collectively generate some text material that could be maybe helpful to work with at some point.

what i find most interesting now is the transformative situation in which this blog allows us to be part of the us–3–organisational–structure, the us–2–collaborating–artists, to be an individual–invited–artist and the beholder at the same time. these constantly shifting positions suddenly get quite obvious through this simple webtool. also looking at it from this direction it emits a certain sense of a private dialog space, a chat room, while taking place absolutely public; a staged private–working–situation and a public–info–knot to create intimacy and privateness. with being present at the space will even add another layer to it. very very exciting so far.

Stefan Riebel:
what was the first thing that you did today?

Magnus Logi Kristinsson:
apart from the daly routine like giving my boys breakfast dressing them up and walking them to the kindergarden.
I sat by the computer and started a long day filling in APPLICATIONS in Swedish and English.

Stefan Riebel:
what do you think will be the last?

Magnus Logi Kristinsson:
I hope my last duty for the day will be going to bed in good time

......................................................................................................................................................................................

 Stefan Riebel:
WHAT WAS THE FIRST THING THAT YOU remember from TODAY? the first thing that you can remember at all? {is there a specific systematic what you remember – can you tell for example in the moment things happen that they will stick to your head because of a certain "something" – or can you maybe provoke a this-will-stick-situation with various gestures for instance}

Magnus Logi Kristinsson:
first thing I remember is; trying to remember what was the first think i remembered from to day. now the first thing i remember is to remember my last last thought. and now i don't remember what i was going to write

......................................................................................................................................................................................

Stefan Riebel:
WHAT do you think about michael jackson, wikileaks, Apple juice (100%), war on terror, egypt, israel, inland empire, ikea, genetic alteration, kids, cars, tomorrow, art, the sixties, and all the more or less important things that i might forgot right now?

Magnus Logi Kristinsson:
it's all so, appealing beatutiful best crisp fast endless delicate priceless quick quiet relaxed wise youthful sweet warm tiny ESSENTAL thriving positive delicious cuddly clear rich sensational save refreshing soft admirable fascinating sexy endless enormous sensitive logical happy flattering unique exciting passionate perfect worthy rewarding sparkly trendy and not the least it's so full of true wealth

......................................................................................................................................................................................

 Stefan Riebel:
WHAT would be a/the question that you would really really really like to be asked someday?

Magnus Logi Kristinsson:

I WILL NOT KNOW UNTIL I HAVE BEEN ASKED THE QUESTION THAT I REALLY REALLY REALLY LIKED to HEAR

......................................................................................................................................................................................
Stefan Riebel:
WHAT if i would not ask you something toDAY?

Magnus Logi Kristinsson:
THEN I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANYTHING TODAY. THAT IS NO GOOD
......................................................................................................................................................................................

Stefan Riebel:
what do you see when you look out the window ? {choose one or more – however you wish}

Magnus Logi Kristinsson:
snow

......................................................................................................................................................................................

Stefan Riebel:
WHich are the first 100 Words that come to your mind after reading this?

Magnus Logi Kristinsson:
i can´t remember so far

......................................................................................................................................................................................

Stefan Riebel:
WHy? {this is definitely the question i am in love with since i am three years old}

Magnus Logi Kristinsson:
is this and that and here and up and down and in and out and her and him and me and you and they and them and and and why why why

......................................................................................................................................................................................

Stefan Riebel:
What would you like to remember? WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE not TO KNOW? WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO forget? {do you think there is a way to actively forget something – because the dilemma is pretty obvious: remembering about something to forget is ... well you know}

......................................................................................................................................................................................

Stefan Riebel:
can you imagine something that either has no meaning or purpose? {or maybe both}

Magnus Logi Kristinsson:
snow

......................................................................................................................................................................................

Stefan Riebel:
What do YOU think about this song? {http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ckOGZu_D0k&feature=related}

Magnus Logi Kristinsson:
it's not a song

......................................................................................................................................................................................

Stefan Riebel:
what do you think will i do today?

Magnus Logi Kristinsson:
eat sleep and write

......................................................................................................................................................................................

Stefan Riebel:
WHAT DO YOU expect or what would you want to happen while being in berlin at sc? are there certain things that you would like to try out? {is there maybe some kind of game/system we might want to work out on how to act? i just thought about the one year performance 1983–84 by TEHCHING HSIEH ... it could be interesting to have a certain something on what we can/cannot do or repeat or whatever ... just an idea}

Magnus Logi Kristinsson:

I never know what can happen or what to expect i think best is that things just happen coincidently i like that! we meet and we see how we look like and how we smell and thinks just happen

......................................................................................................................................................................................

Magnus Logi Kristinsson:
i am in hannover right now. the distance between us is therefore a little different today. it could be interesting to add people over the time or to invite others to contribute a location. i do not exactly know why this could be something - i guess i probably just like the idea of being at a variety of different places at the same time and to collaborate on something over longer distances. maybe you have ideas on that.
there is an opening tonight in which i will present a work that has been started in 2007. you can see it at www.beingeverywhere.net and maybe you woud like to be part of it as well at some point.

it is nice to see this straight line between us. the line just about TOUCHES TWO ISLANDS AND GOES RIGHT OVER ONE ISLAND. and THE STRAIGHT LINE BETWEEN US PASSES six COUNTRIES

......................................................................................................................................................................................

Stefan Riebel:
{back in berlin i realized it started to snow again. it's this flirry, powdery, not-really-serious-snowy snow. everybody was talking about the global warming and i would actually really appreciate if we had tropical climate in germany. or at least JUST not temperatures below 5 degrees celsius. i find it nasty. it would also be nice to grow oranges and bananas around this part of the world.} what do you think?

Magnus Logi Kristinsson:

WHAT CAN I SAY I LIVE IN A COUNTRY WHERE IT HAS BEEN FREEZING MINUS 25 IN THE SOUTH AND OVER 35 IN THE NORTH. MAYBE THERE ARE SOME FREESING TROPICAL THINGS EXITING or then its not tropical

......................................................................................................................................................................................

Stefan Riebel:
WHAT are you waiting for? How much time do you guess did you spent waiting in total? do you think this is a dimension one can estimate at all?

......................................................................................................................................................................................

Stefan Riebel:
i usually start my day with starting the computer. I end it with closing it down. i have problems finding an end so that pretty often i just keep working until five in the morning. it often feels like i did not get anything done. the more i spend time on these things the more work just adds up to it. i find it quite interesting to pay some attention on how time flows. what i was always wondering: where does it go? is this something that can be thought as a place, maybe as some sort of geographical location?

......................................................................................................................................................................................

Stefan Riebel:
And it is almost five again. you are probably asleep. please try to remember your dream. {22.02.2011, 4.40 am} what is/was it about?

Magnus Logi Kristinsson:

i remembered my dream until i read this

Stefan Riebel:
last night i tore off the floor of my new appartment. it always feels like going on a treasure hunt, uncertain if it goes well and there is something coming out or ending up in complete chaos having to recover {and to reinstall the floor}. i am not sure if i got lucky, so far i took off three layers and was pretty happy to find some wooden planks. even though being wasted i think it is a good idea to go on a treasure hunt and the best place is probably the spot one is standing at. i think this action is a mixture out of a certain hope to reveal something that has not been found so far {in times of google not very easy i suppose}, getting in touch with the immediate surrounding {finding out where one is located at and what else there might be} and simply not accepting or at least questioning the things that are around {and often limiting}. i think a treasure hunt can be seen symbolically as one of the first political actions everybody does at some point.

......................................................................................................................................................................................

Stefan Riebel:
when was your last treasure hunt?
